How about some introductions? I'll try to make it brief. I'm Jim Christian. 35 years old, now resinding in Augusta, GA. My wife Amy and I have just completed a bid ol' lap of the coutry. We started off in Atlanta, where we first lived after we were married (a longer story that I'll probably get to at some point) 10+ years ago. We moved to LA (ok, actually Pasadena) in 1996 after deciding we both needed a fresh start, away from our families.
We had a blast, but ended up only spending about 2 years in California. Some things were great (mountain, beaches, crystal blue skies in winter), but other things were'nt (traffic, smog in summer, and oh yeah...did I mention how freaking expensive it is?). So even though we knew we'd be leaving some really cool friends behind (Evan and Rowena, Irv and Jo Jo), we packed up and left for Houston. Big mistake. Although it was for a good job, it pretty much sucked. Boring. Boring. Boring. A couple of good things came out of our 4+ years though, however. First of course is our amazing, now 2-year-old girl Nola (we'll talk about her name later), and some really great friends...Kai and Brandt, Tracy and Jerome, Karen, Hilda, Gigi.
But other than those folks, we were soooo glad to get the hell out of Texas. So here we are back in Georgia. It's good to be back home. It's good to be near family (Amy's entire Mom (Emily) and Dad (Bob), her brother (Bo) and siter-in-law (Keeley) and their kids (Powell and Charlie), along with a grandmother and aunt are now all just 90 short little miles away. Which is great, since we've never lived near family since Nola was born. She's having the best time being around her new relatives so much. And the job's good, and Augusta is actually a fun, happening little place. Who knew? So maybe we've finally found our home. Time will tell I guess.
More later...time to work.
